I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! June 7th is National Chocolate Ice Cream Day (well it is in the United States, but why should they have all the fun?) To celebrate in Metro Vancouver, there are a few shops that you MUST visit for their chocolate ice cream.
Earnest Ice Cream
If you haven’t been here yet, do yourself a favour and go before you are waiting in line this summer. Earnest Ice Cream has two locations in Vancouver, one on Fraser Street and the other on Quebec Street. They have a few chocolate flavours you must check out (below) and if you are vegan, they’ve got you! Chocolate flavours include:
- Vegan Chocolate
- Seriously Chocolate
- Milk Chocolate
- Cookies and Cream
Bring a friend so you can eat them all.
Rain or Shine

As the name suggests, it’s always a good time to visit this ice cream shop to make your day a little better, especially on a damp Vancouver day. Rain or Shine also has two locations on Cambie Street and 18th Ave., and another in Kitsilano. Visit for:
- Malted Milk Chocolate
- Chocolate
- Coconut Chocolate Chunk
You can turn any of the flavours into a sundae or milkshake. June 7th falls on a Tuesday, so try their Taco Tuesday special if you fancy, where they put two scoops of ice cream in their waffle-shaped taco and add delicious toppings.
Tangram Creamery
Tangram Creamery is one of the newer ice cream shops in town and they have a double chocolate ice cream. What I love about this place is definitely their sugar cookie cone or bowl.
720 Sweets & Etc.
720 Sweets & Etc. has been grabbing attention on Instagram with their dreamy presentation. They have a few different flavours, but all have the fun science experiment-like effect of smoke coming out of the cup.
S’Mores Please is a decadent flavour, with chocolate corn flakes, dark chocolate drizzle, crunchy almond stick and a toasted marshmallow on top of a chocolate ice cream scoop. This heaven is at West Broadway and Blenheim Street.

Beta5 is best know for their delicious artisan chocolates but recently created a Signature Chocolate Sundae.
It is made of two scoops of dark chocolate ice cream, topped with chocolate sauce, cocoa nib Chantilly, milk and dark chocolate aerated rocks (edible ones!), milk and dark chocolate almonds and chunks of fresh brownie. You can visit this spectacular place at 413 Industrial Ave.
Where are you going for a delicious brain freeze tomorrow?
