Beta 5 chocolate

4 local gift ideas for V-Day

For many, Valentine’s Day can bring out emotions like kindness and love but if you don’t prepare by expressing to your significant other how much you care, that love and kindness can easily be replaced by saltiness.

If you think it’s too late to do some Valentine’s planning, don’t worry. Here are a few places in Metro Vancouver and Victoria to get your special someone a Valentine’s gift:

Beta5 Chocolates

Beta5 Chocolates is famous for its signature chocolates, holiday sets and cream puffs. To make your Valentine’s Day even better (and easier!) the good folks there have opened a temporary pop-up location at 3345 Cambie Street in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant neighbourhood until February 14th.

You can choose from the classics, like signature chocolates, cream puffs, candy bars and pebbles. But there is also a special Valentines collection that includes flavours such as red velvet, Sriracha-sesame, sparkling raspberry (my favourite), Turkish coffee and Chai black tea. There’s plenty of gorgeously decorated sweet stuff to choose from here!

Bunches & Blooms

Flowers (specifically roses), are a traditional go-to for Valentine’s Day. In New West, the place for Valentine’s Day flowers is Bunches & Blooms. Located next to the Fraser River in the River Market, Bunches & Blooms offers the classic Ecuador red roses for Valentine’s Day, but that’s not all they have! If your valentine has a unique taste and isn’t feeling the roses, cut flower bouquets, local spring flowers, orchid arrangements and much more are also available.

The best part? It’s affordable. Prices start at $10 and go up from there depending on what type of arrangement you are looking for.

Spinnakers Gastro Brewpub & Guesthouse

Tasty food, great beer, truffles for dessert and a place to spend the night = perfect. From February 10-14th, Spinnakers Gastro Brewpub & Guesthouse in Victoria is offering a special beer flight for just $10 paired with house made truffles for additional $8. Or you can take advantage of their Valentine’s Day 3 course meal package for $40 a person.

Interested in making a night of it? Starting at $199+ tax, you can stay in one of their beautiful heritage rooms at the guesthouse, enjoy a 3-course dinner for two, a bottle of bubbles, breakfast for two in the morning and a beer and truffle pairing! Space is limited, so act quick.

Nature’s Wonders Florist

Finding the right florist that delivers can be tough as you get closer to February 14th but Nature’s Wonders Florist has your back. Despite being based in Vancouver, Nature’s Wonders Florist can deliver throughout Metro Vancouver, Squamish and Tsawwassen to ensure that your lover receives anything from traditional red roses to orchids or chocolates from local chocolatiers. If you want to deliver roses to your significant other while they are at work, boxed roses that are easier to carry and take home are also an option.
